Core Drilling

Core drilling into concrete/brick up to 162 mm Diameter. We are capable of testing Rope Access Points up to 15 kN if required.

Whether you’re in the construction industry or are busy with a DIY project, there are times when you need to make a medium to large size cylindrical hole in a brick or cement wall. Core drilling is a fast, accurate and clean way to drill holes in concrete. Concrete core drilling involves drilling perfectly rounded holes in concrete walls, floors, ceiling, and other structures. Core drilling is done to make provisional holes for the purposes of electrical wiring, plumbing, fire fighting systems, rainwater outlets, heating, air-conditioning, and ventilation installations. On brick walls, RCC walls, black stones, slabs, beams, columns, and water tanks, etc core-drilling can be done.

A core drill is needed for this kind of work. This is a drill that cuts a hole and removes the core (the centre part of the hole) as it drills. Unlike an ordinary drill, a core drill does not have a shaft like a normal drill bit. Instead, a cylindrical cutter is attached to an arbour, which then slots into the drill. There are many different sizes of core drill bits to allow for different sizes of pipes and wires. Because this is a more specialized tool, you may consider asking Access and Rigging Services to supply this service for your next project.

Using high-quality tools is vital to ensure that you can do the best work possible. However, top brands are expensive to purchase, especially specialized power tools and equipment that you are unlikely to use often. Instead, using us to do your core drilling makes sense, because you have access to a top brand tool that has been well maintained.

Safety Anchor Points/Anchor Point Load Testing

Anchor points are the first of three very important components of an effective fall arrest system. Choosing a suitable anchor point location and mechanism can make the difference between life and death if a dangerous fall was to occur.

Safety anchor points are crucial to the safety of work at height operations. Anchor points are usually installed on the roofs of buildings, but can also be installed on walls, doors and windows and are used as a connection point for lifelines, work restraint systems and rope access. Anchor points are used to connect lanyards, lifelines, and other forms of tie-off which prevent a worker/s from falling. They form an integral component of the fall protection system that keeps our rope access technicians safe whilst performing a job, whether it’s painting, window cleaning, light installation, concrete repairs, and more.

Roof anchors can be as simple as a D-ring connection or as complex as a complete lifeline system. Safety anchor points can be permanent or temporary, depending on the client’s needs and the nature of the job. For example: permanent safety anchor points might be considered for buildings or structures that require frequent work by rope access technicians. They can also simple or highly sophisticated and complex, offering workmen a complete lifeline system.

Access and Rigging Services are able to supply and test (recommended on an annual basis) both permanent and temporary anchor points.
